Ivan Dixon

Ivan Dixon ( born April 6, 1931 in New York; † March 16, 2008 in Charlotte, North Carolina ) was an American actor and television director.

Ivan Dixon was best known for his role as the American radio operator Ivan " Kinch " Kinchloe in a German POW camp of World War II in the television series Hogan's Heroes.

However, his acting career began on Broadway in New York, where he worked in A Raisin in the Sun, among others, in 1959. Two years later, Dixon was also seen in the film adaptation of the play alongside Sidney Poitier and Diana Sands. Other film roles had Ivan Dixon, 1964 in Nothing but a man ( Nothing But a Man, 1964 ), 1965 again with Poitier in A Patch of Blue ( A Patch of Blue ) and 1976 in the comedy Car Wash - The freaky launderette. In addition to the series Hogan's Heroes, in the Dixon participated from 1965 to 1970, he had numerous guest appearances on other television series.

After his departure from Hogan's Heroes Dixon worked primarily as a television director, among other things, for the series The Waltons, The Rockford Files - sufficient and Magnum call.

Ivan Dixon died at the age of 76 years on March 16, 2008 at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte. He was suffering from kidney failure and succumbed to internal bleeding.
