Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament

The Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament ( German Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament, also U- 18 Junior World Cup) is organizing a yearly since 1991 Hockey Tournament for Under-18 national teams. It is named after the late in 2004, multiple world champion Ivan Hlinka. The tournament is not sanctioned by the International Ice Hockey Federation IIHF. By far the most tournament victories won Canada.

The official Ice Hockey World Championship U18 Junior IIHF takes place every year in April.

History

Beginning in 1991, the competition was organized for the first five years, four times in Japan. The first edition was held under the name Phoenix Cup, then the Tournament Directorate chose the name Pacific Cup. One exception was the year 1994 when the tournament was held in Mexico and traded under the name of La Copa Mexico. In 1996, the medals were played for the first and only time in Canada.

Starting in 1997, began the Czech Republic and Slovakia for the next five years the tournament, which now Nations Cup was to discharge by mutual exchange.
