Ivan Mrkić

Ivan Mrkić (* May 30, 1953 in Belgrade ) is a Serbian diplomat and politician. Since July 2012, he is Serbian Foreign Minister in the government of Prime Minister Ivica Dacic.

Life

After completing his studies at the Law Faculty of the University of Belgrade was Ivan Mrkić employees of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. 1982 to 1986 he was a member of the Yugoslav Mission to the United Nations in New York, from 1990 to 1992, the Yugoslav delegation to the European Community in Brussels.

1992 to 1993 he was chief office of the President of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia Dobrica Cosic. 1993 to 1999 he was chargé d' or ambassador of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia in Cyprus. Since the former Serbian President Slobodan Milošević was running financial transactions via Cyprus, Mrkić was hereby brought into connection. Mrkić held in the following years, important positions in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (from 2003: Serbia and Montenegro). In 2005 he was chairman of the Commission for the implementation of the Chemical Weapons Convention in Serbia and Montenegro.
