Iván Parra

Iván Ramiro Parra Pinto ( born October 14, 1975 in Sogamoso ) is a Colombian cyclist.

Sporting career

1995 and 1997 won Iván Parra, younger brother of the successful cyclist Fabio Parra, the general classification of the Vuelta de la Juventud Colombia. In 1998, he turned professional at the Colombian cycling team Lotería de Boyaca. After a change to the Spanish team Vitalicio Seguros he finished ninth overall in the first big tour, in which he took part, the Vuelta a España.

2000 drove Parra for his first victory when he won a stage of the Tour of Galicia. A year later he moved to the successful Spanish ONCE team of Manolo Saiz, from where he went to Kelme 2003. Here he was, among others, sixth in the 2004 Tour of Catalonia. Shortly before the start of the 2005 season, he got a contract with the home team Colombia - Selle Italia. In the spring he was Colombian national time trial champion, and a little later he made at the Giro d' Italia for a surprise: He won two consecutive mountain stages and was in the mountains classification second behind his teammate José Rujano.

Iván Parra started in all three Grand Tours, the Giro, the Tour de France and the Vuelta a España in.
