Ivan Tyulenev

Ivan Vladimirovich Tjulenew (Russian: Иван Владимирович Тюленев, scientific transliteration Ivan Vladimirovič Tjulenev; * 16.jul / January 28 1892greg in Schatroschany in today's Ulyanovsk Oblast, .. † August 15, 1978 in Moscow) was a Soviet Army General and the first commander the southern front in the Great Patriotic war.

Life

When the German invasion of the Soviet Union took place, Tjulenew was commander of the Moscow Military District. On June 25, 1941, he took over command of the resulting from the 9 self Army Southern Front, in August 1941 he was given command of the Transcaucasian Military District, and later the Trans- Caucasus Front.

Tjulenew wrote several books about his experiences, including:
