Ivan Vasiliev

Ivan Vladimirovich Vasilyev (Russian: Иван Владимирович Васильев; born January 9, 1989 in Tawritschanka, Primorsky Krai, Soviet Union ) is a Russian ballet dancer.

Career

He received his first ballet lessons at the Dnepropetrovsk Ballet School in Ukraine. At twelve, he moved to the State Ballet Academy in Minsk, where he remained until his graduation in 2006. In the same year he was invited to join the Bolshoi Ballet in Russia's capital as a solo dancer. His debut in Moscow he made as Basilio in Don Quixote. May 2010 he was appointed Principal Dancer. His move from the Moscow Ballet to Mikhailovsky Theatre in St. Petersburg in the autumn of 2011 made ​​worldwide headlines.
