Ivano Fontana

Ivano Fontana ( born November 23, 1926 in L' Aquila ) is an Italian former middleweight boxer.

Fontana won at the 1948 Olympic Games in London, the bronze medal in the middleweight division, he lost it in the semifinals against the Hungarian László Papp. At the European Championships 1949 in Oslo, he took another third place.

In December 1949 he moved on to the pros, but there had only moderate success. In 1952, he won the Italian middleweight title in 1955 and the championship in the light heavyweight division. In March 1955 he lost to Gustav Scholz by KO in the fifth round. His last fight on January 11, 1958 in the Westfalenhalle in Dortmund he lost to Erich Schöppner by knockout in the fourth round.
