IVL K.1 Kurki

The IVL K.1 Kurki was a trainer aircraft of the Finnish manufacturer Ilmailuvoimien Lentokonetehdas.

History and construction

IVL K.1 Kurki was the prototype for a four-seater training aircraft that was designed in 1927 by IVL. The designer Asser Järvinen designed the aircraft as a high-wing monoplane with open cockpit and spur wheel chassis. The aircraft was launched on March 30, 1927 for its first flight. Only one prototype was built, because the plane was too heavy and therefore had poor flight characteristics. The Finnish Air Force tested the machine and flew merely 13 hours.
