Ivrey

Ivrey is a commune in the French department of Jura in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Ivrey is located on 449 m above sea level. M., north of Salins- les- Bains and about 33 km east-southeast of the city of Dole (air line). The farming village extends in the western Jura, in a valley of the Ruisseau d' Ivrey, at the northern foot of Mont Poupet.

The area of ​​6.67 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the French Jura. The central part of the area occupied by the basin of Ivrey, which is flanked on the north and south by steep slopes, crowned at the top of cliffs. The basin is drained to Furieuse by the Ruisseau d' Ivrey westward through a ravine. In the south of the municipality extends to the bottom edge of the Mont Poupet ( with the Bois de Lézinet ), at the 810 m above sea level. M. the highest elevation of Ivrey is achieved. To the north, the municipality's area extends to the height of Ivrey (626 m above sea level. M. ) and with a long narrow tip to the northeast on the densely wooded ridge of the Bois de la Chaînée (606 m above sea level. M. ).

Neighboring communities of Ivrey are by and Bartherans in the north, muon and Salins- les- Bains in the east, Saint- Thiébaud in the south and La Chapelle- sur- Furieuse in the West.

History

The territory of Ivrey was already inhabited during the Gallo- Roman period. In the Middle Ages Ivrey belonged to the Château de Bracon. From the 15th until the 17th century it was the site of a hospital. Together with the Franche -Comté reached the village with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 to France.

Population

With 60 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) Ivrey one of the smallest towns in the Jura. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1881 191 persons were still counted ), only small fluctuations were recorded since the mid- 1970s.

Economy and infrastructure

Ivrey was until well into the 20th century a predominantly coined by agriculture and forestry village. Even today, the inhabitants live on the merits of the activity in the first sector. Outside of the primary sector, there are few jobs in the village. Some of the working population commuters who engage in the larger towns in the vicinity of their work.

The village is located off the major thoroughfares. The main access is from La Chapelle- sur- Furieuse. Further road links exist with Saint- Thiébaud and Saizenay.
