Izabela Maria Furtado Kestler

Izabela Maria Furtado Kestler ( born June 20, 1959 in Rio de Janeiro, † June 1, 2009 at the Air France flight 447 ) was a Brazilian specialist in German.

Kestler received his doctorate in 1992 at the Albert -Ludwigs- University of Freiburg with a thesis on The Exile Literature and the exile of the German writer and journalist in Brazil. From 1989 - 1993 she lived in Freiburg, Bonn and Stuttgart. From 2006 to 2009 she taught and conducted research as a professor of German at the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro.

Kestler was founded in 2009 co-founded the Associação Goethe do Brasil. Her estate on exile literature is located in the Casa Stefan Zweig in Rio de Janeiro.
