Izmaylovsky Park

The Izmailovsky Park (Russian Измайловский парк ) is one of the largest parks and urban forests in Moscow. It lies in East administrative district of the city and is regarded as an important recreational area.

The park is made up of the Izmailovsky Culture and Recreation Park ( Измайловский парк культуры и отдыха ) and the Izmailovsky City Forest ( Измайловский лес ). The former is located in the western part of the park area and is used with its numerous cafes, ponds with boats for hire stations, roundabouts, sports and children's playgrounds mainly as an amusement park, similar to the Gorky Park in the center of Moscow. East of the main avenue extends to just over 1530 hectares of urban forest. He emerged from the jungle areas of a former stately home whose residents had often used it as a hunting ground. Even today, this forest one of the largest of its kind in the Russian capital, serving as a habitat for hundreds of species of plants, 65 species of breeding birds, as well as in the city otherwise rarely occurring wild animals such as marten, weasel or hare.

After Izmailovsky Park subway station Partizanskaya was formerly named, whose name was Park until 2005 Ismailovsky. The city forest part of the park closest metro station is above ground and directly adjacent to the parking station Izmailovskaya however.
