Izora Armstead

Izora Rhodes Armstead ( probably * July 6, 1942 in Texas; † 16 September 2004 in San Leandro, California ) was an American disco queen. She was married twice and had seven children.

She was part of the pop duo "The Weather Girls". Second member was Martha Wash. Mid-1980s, the two were successful. Her biggest hit, they landed in 1982 with the song "It 's Raining Men ", the space occupied for weeks in first place in the American dance charts. Since the hit no further followed, they separated.

Izora Rhodes Armstead moved to Germany, where she shared with her daughter Dynelle Rhodes, the duo was revived in the 1990s. Among other things, they took in 2002 at the preliminaries to the Euro Vision Song Contest.

Shortly before her death, she returned for treatment of a heart condition back to California, where she died in a hospital on 16 September 2004.
