J. J. Daigneault

Jean -Jacques " J. J. " Daigneault ( born October 12, 1965 in Montreal, Quebec ) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey player and current coach, who in his active years from 1984 to 2000 among others for the Vancouver Canucks, Montreal Canadiens, Philadelphia Flyers, St. Louis Blues, Pittsburgh Penguins, Mighty Ducks of Anaheim, New York Islanders, Nashville Predators, Phoenix Coyotes and Minnesota Wild played in the National Hockey League.

He currently works as an assistant coach with the Montreal Canadiens.

Career

Jean -Jacques Daigneault began his career as a hockey player with the Laval Voisins in the Canadian Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, where he was active in the 1981/82 season. Daigneault was then for two years at the Longueuil Chevaliers under contract, in which he reached 97 points in 80 games. But he spent the majority of the team Canada, which was preparing for the 1984 Winter Olympics in Sarajevo. There he took the team to fourth place. It was the only international tournament in which he took part in his career. During the NHL Entry Draft in 1984, he was selected in the first round in the tenth place of the Vancouver Canucks.

He succeeded very quickly to establish itself in the NHL squad the Canucks, he played in the next two years between 1984 and 1986 a total of 134 games and scored 57 points scorer. Beginning in June 1986 transferred him the Canucks for a draft pick to the Philadelphia Flyers. Even with the Flyers the defender received many applications, but also had some games at their former Farmtean, the Hershey Bears complete.

In November 1988, the Flyers gave him off in exchange for Scott Sandelin to the Montreal Canadiens. There, the Canadiens first pushed him into their farm team, the Sherbrooke Canadiens, from. After he had established himself there, he was from 1990 to 1995 to the root cadres of the Canadiens, with whom he won the prestigious Stanley Cup in the season 1992/93. Beginning of November 1995 transferred him the Canadiens in exchange for Pat Jablonski to the St. Louis Blues. After 37 games for the Blues and four points scorer followed the next change. In February 1997 he moved to the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim, where he was able to establish itself as a defender, but has already transferred a year later to the New York Islanders.

Daigneault was able to prevail in the team Neither the Islanders even at the Nashville Predators; 1998 saw the transfer to Phoenix. In the Phoenix Coyotes, he could deny as starting player, the following two years before he again moved within the NHL and the Minnesota Wild joined. For this, he played only one NHL game and played otherwise exclusively with their farm team, the Cleveland Lumberjacks in the International Hockey League. Jean -Jacques Daigneault let his long career in Switzerland end the evening with EHC Biel. After a few games in the National League B, he finally ended his active career in 2002.

Then Daigneault began his career as a coach. First he filled during the season 2005 /06 at the Phoenix Roadrunners of the ECHL the post of assistant coach from.
