J. Merrill Knapp

John Merrill Knapp ( born May 9, 1914 in New York City; † March 7, 1993 in Princeton, New Jersey) was an American musicologist and university professor. He is mainly known for his research activity to Georg Friedrich Handel.

Knapp graduated from Yale University ( Graduation year 1936). From 1946 he was first employed as a music teacher, and later as Assistant Professor and Associate Professor and from 1961 to 1982 as a full professor at Princeton University.
