J. Michael Muro

James Michael Muro ( * 1966 in New York ) is an American cinematographer and director.

Life

Since the mid- 1980s Muro works primarily as a popular Steadicam operator. In this role, he worked among other things on films by James Cameron ( The Abyss, T2, True Lies, Titanic ), Kathryn Bigelow ( Point Break, Strange Days ), Oliver Stone ( The Doors, JFK, Any Given Sunday ), Martin Scorsese ( casino) and Michael Mann (Heat, The insider) with.

Since 2003 he has also worked as director of photography, so in well-known films such as Rush Hour 3 and Open Range - The Big Country. In 2006 he was nominated for the BAFTA Awards for his camera work in the film Crash.

His only directorial effort, the splatter trash film Street Trash (1986 ) became a cult film. From 2010 he directed several episodes of the series Southland, he also was involved as a director as a cameraman on the series Longmire.
