J. Ross Mickey

J. Ross Mickey ( born January 5, 1856 in Eldorado, McDonough County, Illinois, † March 20, 1928 in Excelsior Springs, Missouri ) was an American politician. Between 1901 and 1903 he represented the state of Illinois in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Ross Mickey attended the common schools and the Lincoln College. He then worked in Macomb for a few years as a teacher. After a subsequent law studies and his 1889 was admitted to a lawyer, he began to practice in this profession in Macomb. Between 1898 and 1901 he served as judge in McDonough County. Politically, he was a member of the Democratic Party.

In the congressional elections of 1900, Mickey was in the 15th electoral district of Illinois in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Benjamin F. Marsh on March 4, 1901. Since he resigned in 1902 to further candidacy, he was able to complete only one term in Congress until March 3, 1903. After the end of his time in the U.S. House of Representatives Mickey operated again as a lawyer. Between 1908 and 1918 he was president of the Mystic Workers of the World. Then he was up to his death one of its directors. He died on March 20, 1928 in Excelsior Springs, and was buried in Macomb.
