J. S. Sirén

Johan Sigfrid Sirén ( born May 27, 1889 in Ylihärmä; † March 5, 1961 in Helsinki) was a Finnish architect.

In the 1920s Sirén was the main representative of classicism in Finland, in later works make functionalist influences noticeable. From 1931 to 1957 Sirén taught as a professor of architecture at the Helsinki University of Technology, and from 1931 to 1949 he was chairman of the Finnish Arts and Crafts Association.

Among his most famous buildings include the Parliament building completed in 1931 (Finnish Eduskuntatalo, swedish Riksdagshuset ) of the Finnish Reichstag.
