J. Slauerhoff

Jan Jacob Slauerhoff, pseudonym John Ravenswood ( born September 15, 1898 in Leeuwarden, The Netherlands, † October 5, 1936 in Hilversum ) was a Dutch writer.

Slauerhoff studied medicine at the University of Amsterdam and worked as a ship's doctor from 1923. He made ​​numerous trips to the East and West Indies, China and Africa. He stood close to the French Poète maudits. Slauerhoff published his first works in the magazines De Vrije Bladen and forum, developed after the First World War one of the most important Dutch poets.
