Jaak Aab

Jaak Aab ( born April 9, 1960 in Taagepera ) is an Estonian politician. He belongs to the Estonian Centre Party to ( Keskerakond ).

Life

Jaak Aab attended school in Ala (municipality helmets in Valga County ) and in Viljandi. After graduation in 1978, he studied from 1978 to 1986 at the Pedagogical Institute in Tallinn ( Tallinna Pedagoogiline Instituut, Tallinn University today ) Russian language and literature teacher. From 1984 to 1991 he worked as a teacher in Ala and Võhma. 1991-1994 Aab worked in Finland.

Back in Estonia Aab engaged politically. From November 1994 to January 1996, he was Deputy Mayor of the City Võhma. From August 1998 to February 2002 held the office of Lord Mayor Aab. From February 2002 to March 2003 was Aab deputy in the Estonian Parliament ( Riigikogu ). From July 2003 to April 2005, he was Managing Director of the Estonian Association of Cities ( Eesti Linnade Liit ) before Prime Minister Andrus Ansip in 2005 appointed him to his cabinet. Of 13 April 2005 to 5 April 2007 was Jaak Aab Minister of Social Affairs of the Republic of Estonia.

Since April 2007, Aab is a Member of the Estonian Parliament and Deputy Chairman of the Social Committee.

Jaak Aab is with the teacher Kaie Aab (* 1958) married. The couple has two daughters.
