Jacek Saryusz-Wolski

Jacek Emil Saryusz -Wolski ( born September 19, 1948 in Łódź) is a Polish politician. He belongs to the Platforma Obywatelska.

He studied economics at the University of Łódź ( completion 1971). This was followed by postgraduate studies at the University of Nancy ( 1972/1973 ). Even in the 70 years he worked there then questions the European Community. In 1980, he became involved on the part of the Solidarity trade union. In the same year he completed his PhD in Lodz. In the 1980s, he taught as an assistant and assistant professor, repeatedly interrupted by stays abroad. After the regime change in 1989, he was appointed director of the Institute for European Studies at the University of Lodz ( Ośrodek Badań Europejskich Uniwersytetu Łódzkiego ). In 1991, he became the first representative of European integration and foreign aid in the government of Jan Krzysztof Bielecki. Despite numerous changes of government he remained until 1996 in this office. From 1996 to 1999 he was Vice Rector of the College of Europe in Bruges and Natolin. Then he returned again as the main consultant for European Affairs in the government of Jerzy Buzek back (until 2001) and in this function the most important Polish negotiator at the summit in Nice in 2000. In June 2004 Saryusz -Wolski was in the constituency of Lodz to the European Parliament and there elected a month later as Vice President. In the fall of 2005, he was one of the contenders for an important office in the government of Kazimierz Marcinkiewicz. He is married and has two children.

Saryusz -Wolski is currently Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, Human Rights, Common Security and Defence Policy in the European Parliament. In the European elections in 2009, he was elected again to the European Parliament.

In the period 2009-2014 Saryusz -Wolski has the following responsibilities as EU parliamentarians:

Chairman of the Delegation for relations with the NATO Parliamentary Assembly.

Deputy Chairman of the Delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly EURO- NEST.

Member of the Conference of Delegation Chairs, the Committee on Foreign Affairs, Human Rights, Common Security and Defence Policy and in the Delegation to the Parliamentary Cooperation Committees EU-Armenia, EU-Azerbaijan and EU-Georgia.
