Jack Coghill

John B. "Jack" Coghill (* September 24, 1925 in Fairbanks, Alaska ) is an American politician ( Independence Party ). He was from 1990 to 1994 under Governor Walter Hickel Vice- Governor of the State of Alaska. Coghill was 22 years mayor of Nenana in Interior Alaska. He also was a member of the Senate for the same area and one of the signers of the Constitution of Alaska.

Family

Coghill is married to Frances Peterson. The couple has six children together: Patty, John Jr., the twins Jerry and Jim, Paula and Jeff. His father, William A. Coghill, was a pioneer who immigrated from Valdez to the interior. He worked as a publisher for today's Fairbanks Daily News - Miner and opened the trade office in Nenana. The Coghill Store is today still in operation and owned by the family. Jack (deceased, managed after the death of William A. Coghill the Store) two older brothers, William F. ( Col. U.S. Army Ret. , And former CFO of the Alaska Railroad ) and Robert A. Sr..

Honors

In 2004 he received an honorary doctorate from the University of Alaska Fairbanks.
