Jack Davies (screenwriter)

Jack Davies (born 25 November 1913 in London, † June 22, 1994 in California ) was a British writer and book author.

Life

Davies began to work after completing his guilt Education for British International Pictures. From 1934/1935 first films that were based on his scripts developed. During the Second World War he served in the Royal Air Force and wrote the scripts for training films. After the end of his service, he worked as a film critic for the Sunday Graphic, but then turned again from 1948 to screenwriting to. In several projects, he worked with the director and screenwriter Ken Annakin.

Davies has published several novels, some of which were also filmed. So the action film based demolition squad Atlantic ( 1979) on his book of Esther, Ruth and Jennifer. Davies himself wrote to the screenplay. After this production, he sat down to rest in California.

The screenplay for the film Doctor Ahoy! brought him together with Nicholas Phipps a nomination for BAFTA Film Award.

1966 Davies was nominated together with Ken Annakin for Those Magnificent Men in Their Flying Machines for the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay.

His son, John Howard Davies (1939-2011) worked as an actor, film director and producer.

Overall, he was involved in more than 40 productions, mainly comedies.
