Jack Dennis

Jack Bonnell Dennis (born 13 October 1931 in Elizabeth ( New Jersey)) is an American computer scientist.

The son of Wolcott Dennis from Seattle and Nereid Bonnell studied from 1949 at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), earned his master's degree in 1954, in 1958 received his doctorate in electrical engineering and in 1969 professor. In 1987 he retired. 1988 to 2000 he was president of the Data Flow Computer Corporation. 1996 to 2001 he was Chief Scientist of Acorn Networks.

He was involved in the initial work on time-sharing on the PDP-1 at MIT.

Later he was a founding member of the Multics project and developed the single-level memory. He was also one of the founders of the concept of data flow architecture.

In 1984 he received the Eckert - Mauchly Award. For 2013, the John von Neumann Medal was awarded. He is a Fellow of the IEEE and the Association for Computing Machinery ( ACM).

He has been married since 1982 and has three children.
