Jack Jewsbury

Jack Jewsbury ( born April 13, 1981 in Joplin, Missouri) is an American football player at the position of midfielder. He currently plays for the Portland Timbers in the top division in the North American Soccer, Major League Soccer (MLS ).

Career

Youth and College

Jewsbury attended Kickapoo High School in Springfield, Missouri. In his last year scored 59 goals in one season for the school team and thus set a new record in the state. In all, he scored 124 in the four high school years. He has won several awards and was active in various national teams.

After high school, he moved to Saint Louis University and was there for four years, part of the St. Louis Billikens. He was appointed twice to the first team All- Conference USA. In addition to the college, he played for the Kansas City Brass in the USL Premier Development League.

Club career

His professional career began in 2003 when he was drafted as the 43rd pick to the Kansas City Wizards in Major League Soccer in the MLS SuperDraft. In his first season he was a total of 66 minutes for the Wizards on the court and was temporarily loaned to the Syracuse Salty Dogs. In his second year, he was often on the field and could quickly become a good player for the team. In the coming years he cemented his place in the team.

On 1 March 2011 he was transferred for a transfer fee to the Portland Timbers. Shortly after his arrival he was appointed captain of the team and scored at the end of the season the most goals for the team.
