Jack Keane is a humorous, classic point -and- click adventure game from German developer Deck 13 team and has appeared in Germany in August 2007. Like the successful Adventure Games of the Ankh series by the same developer is the game based on the free graphics engine OGRE. The game reached high positions in the German Media Control ( 5th place) and Saturn sales charts (No. 1 ) at first. The German trade press rated the game entirely positive.
Action
The story begins in London during the colonial period. The protagonist Jack Keane, an unsuccessful adventurer who takes on the run from violent debt collectors on the job, bring to a British secret agent with his ship to " Tooth Iceland ". The agent who quickly turns out to be an absolute failure to stop the evil scientist Doctor T, there, who wants his plans to leave destroy all teas in the world by " Teefressende plants" and thus to build up a monopoly, put it into practice. When the ship reaches its destination, it crashed on the coast of the island, and shortly afterwards the crew makes the terraces American Amanda - as it turns out later, the new handmaiden of Doctor T. - from the dust and to make matters worse, the Agent also dragged by a tiger in the jungle. Jack must now figure out how he still get his reward for the job and Tooth Iceland can leave without his ship. Game concept
Jack Keane is completely controlled by the mouse and does not use any dexterity elements and puzzles under time pressure. Instead, the action scenes are represented in self-running cutscenes. The dialogues run either automatically or in multiple-choice method. By interacting with people or objects that can be partially accommodated also for later use in the inventory, the player drives the action. Here, in the course of the game next to Jack Keane his adversary Amanda are controlled, the change takes place automatically and played an entire chapter with a character always. The Adventure largely linear structure and provides certain also different solutions of puzzles and - for the first time in a game of Deck 13 - the opportunity to discover bonus items that will unlock various extras.
Graphic

Even before the release of the game a sequel was announced on the official forum. The sequel to " Jack Keane and the Eye of Fate " was released on November 7, 2012.
Criticism
The magazine Gamestar awarded the " Gold Award" and called Jack Keane as the best "Adventure of recent years". In addition, were "successful puzzles, fun characters, an exciting story and a lot of humor " praised. The game magazine PC Action awarded "Gold" as an assessment, describing the game as "the best currently Adventure". PC PowerPlay rated the game also with an award for outstanding games. In the German Developer Award 2007 Jack Keane was awarded as the best German Adventure and as the game with the best story / game world.
