Jack Kirrane

John Joseph Kirrane junior ( born August 20, 1930 in Brookline, Massachusetts ) is a retired American professional ice hockey player. At the Olympic Winter Games in 1960 he won the gold medal as a member of the U.S. national team.

Career

Jack Kirrane began his career as a hockey player with the Boston Olympics, which until 1950 he was active from 1947 in the Eastern Amateur Hockey League. In the 1954/55 season he played at club level also for the Worcester Warriors. Before the Winter Games in 1948 and 1960 he took part in each of the Olympic preparation with Team USA. After his career Kirrane worked a long time for the Brookline Fire Department. In 1987 he was honored with induction into the United States Hockey Hall of Fame.

Internationally

For the U.S. Kirrane participated in St. Moritz in 1960 in Squaw Valley at the Olympic Winter Games in 1948. At the Winter Games in 1948 his team was disqualified, at the Winter Games in 1960 he won the U.S. the gold medal. In addition, he was in his country's squad at the World Championships in 1957 and 1963.
