Jack M. Murphy

Jack M. Murphy ( born September 6, 1925 in Shoshone, Lincoln County, Idaho, † May 3, 1984 ) was an American politician. Between 1967 and 1975 he was Deputy Governor of the State of Idaho.

Career

Not much is handed on youth and education by Jack Murphy. He graduated from the University of Utah and must be there or have studied law at another university, because he later worked as a lawyer. In addition to this, he was still rancher. During the Second World War he was a sergeant in the U.S. Army. Politically, he joined the Republican Party.

1966 Murphy was elected to the side of Don Samuelson for Lieutenant Governor of Idaho. This post he held for a re-election between January 2, 1967, and January 6, 1975. Yet he was Deputy Governor and Chairman of the State Senate. Since 1971, he served under Governor Cecil D. Andrus the new. In August 1972 he was a delegate to the Republican National Convention in Miami Beach in part, was nominated to the President Richard Nixon for re-election. In 1974, Murphy was a candidate for the office of Governor of Idaho, but was defeated by Democratic incumbent Andrus. He died on May 3, 1984 in his home town of Shoshone.
