Jack McConaghy

Jack McConaghy ( born December 21, 1902 in Pennsylvania, USA, † 13 October 1977 in San Diego, California, USA) was an American production designer, who was twice nominated for the Academy Award for Best Production Design.

Life

McConaghy began his career as a set designer in the film industry in Hollywood in 1941 when incurred under the title of Sergeant York film biography of Alvin C. York by director Howard Hawks with Gary Cooper in the lead role, and Walter Brennan, and Joan Leslie in other roles. At the Academy Awards in 1945 McConaghy was nominated along with Charles Novi for an Academy Award for Best Production Design in a color film, and indeed for love song of the Desert ( The Desert Song, 1943), one arising under the direction of Robert Florey musical film starring Dennis Morgan, Irene Manning and Bruce Cabot.

His second Oscar nomination for Best Production Design in a color film received McConaghy1946 with Ted Smith for the staged by David Butler Western A Man of Action (San Antonio, 1945) in which Errol Flynn, Alexis Smith and Victor Francen played the lead roles.
