Jack Mildren

Larry Jack Mildren (born 10 October 1949 in Kingsville, Kleberg County, Texas, † 22 May 2008) was an American football player and later politician (Democratic Party).

Career

Mildred attended the University of Oklahoma, where he played football as a quarterback. His nickname in college was "Godfather of the Wishbone " because he was able to achieve, especially on the so-called Wishbone formation, where a running back is directly behind the quarterback and two together after this, good results. Mildren presented with the team in his senior season in 1971 some records on, but which are now broken. For example, the team was able to run an average of 472.4 yards per game. He set the record for most career touchdown passes. He was elected the Most Valuable Player of the Sugar Bowls, he was also in the All-America team and Academic All-America team.

He was drafted in the second round by the Baltimore Colts in 1972. He played two years as a safety before moving for another year to the New England Patriots.

In 1990 he was elected Lieutenant Governor of Oklahoma; this office he held from 1991 to 1995. In 1994 he failed in the election for governor on the Republican Frank Keating. Mildred died in 2008 after several years of cancer.
