Jack Robson

John "Jack" Robson (* 1860 in Durham, † January 11, 1922 in Manchester ) was an English football coach and manager.

Career

Robson began his coaching and managerial career at Middlesbrough FC. In Middlesbrough the Englishman got the sum of the equivalent of about € 4.5 per week. He led the FC Middlesbrough by an amateur club to a professional club. The Englishman was also the very first manager and manager of Crystal Palace. In addition, he coached Brighton & Hove Albion and was the first official coach of Manchester United, who was not called secretary. Robson died in his office as Manchester United coach on 11 January 1922 pneumonia.
