Jack Sarfatti

Jack Sarfatti ( born September 14, 1939 in Brooklyn, New York) is an American theoretical physicist and author of popular works on quantum physics and consciousness. He is known for his iconoclastic ideas and shows great interest in the, in his view, the current collapse of the paradigm which separates the natural sciences and the humanities. One of his arguments is that physics, which he calls the Conceptual Art of the late 20th Century, has replaced philosophy as a unifying link between science and art.

However Sarfattis main interest is SMI ² LE, so the colonization of space, increasing our intelligence and life extension. His views include speculation that UFOs could possibly be of extraterrestrial origin or terrestrial time travelers from our own future; that parapsychological phenomena are real; that communication could be possible faster than light; and that the long distances could be overcome by deforming the space-time with space travel.

He is a proponent of Usenet and also has its own website where he discussed his ideas.

His views are not accepted by most of the scientific community.

Academic Background

Sarfatti was born in Brooklyn, New York, and was the son of Hyman Sarfatti, a Sephardi Jews originally came from Macedonia, and his wife Mildred Sarfatti.

After high school graduation in Flatbush in 1956, he studied physics at Cornell University, where he heard among others the Nobel laureate Hans Bethe and Philip Morrison in 1960 and earned his bachelor 's degree. His first published work Quantum Mechanical Correlation Theory of Electromagnetic Fields was published in 1963 in the Italian journal Nuovo Cimento.

In 1967 he received his Master's degree ( Diplom) in Physics from the University of California, San Diego (UCSD ) University of California, San Diego. In the same year co-authored with Marshall Stoneham essay The Goldstone theorem in the Jahn-Teller Effect in the journal Proceedings of the Physical Society of London and the Tower Laser Self- Focusing Analogue to the Landau - Ginzburg Equation of Type II Superconductivity has been published.

From 1967 to 1971, he taught physics at San Diego State University ( where Fred Alan Wolf was his colleague) and his PhD in 1969 with Fred Cummings at the University of California, Riverside ( UCR), whom he knew from a summer job at Ford Aeronutronics 1963. In 1970 he published with Cummings Beyond the Hartree -Fock theory in superfluid helium in the journal " Physica Scripta ".

1971-72 he was a member of David Bohm, well known for his studies of the theory of hidden variables in quantum theory at Birkbeck College in London.

1973-74 he worked for the Nobel laureate Abdus Salam in the International Centre for Theoretical Physics in Trieste. He also spent a year visiting professor at the Mathematics Department at UNICAMP in Brazil.

In 1974 he founded the Physics Consciousness Research Group and held regular classes and workshops at the Esalen Institute in Big Sur. 1999-2000 he was with Joe Firmages " ISSO exotic propulsion group " with a budget of several million dollars.

Sarfatti and Uri Geller

On June 21, 1974 Sarfatti been involved together with other scientists and other interested groups of observations that dealt with Uri Geller.

Sarfatti was impressed by Geller highly and commented on the events as follows: " My personal professional judgment, is a physicist and doctor of philosophy that Geller has demonstrated actually, reproducible, psycho-energetic abilities under relatively well-controlled conditions, which are beyond any doubt. "

Later, however, when he had discussed the events with James Randi, he revised his statements. In a letter he wrote: " On the basis of further experience in the field Incanter I want to withdraw my confirmation to the psycho- energetic abilities of Uri Geller. "

About Aliens

Sarfatti, 1975, in a letter to James Randi that he possessed " serious information concerning contacts with extraterrestrial beings ." And in the same year he published jointly with two other authors the book "Space -Time and Beyond" in which he claimed that paraphysical events could be explained by "non- local quantum connections".

About the speed of light

Sarfatti 1978 patented a fast functioning as a light communication system. Martin Gardner commented: "I know of no other physicist who thinks that this system works. If it works, then Jack Sarfatti was one of the greatest physicists of all time ". Sarfatti withdrew its support for this design, and declared that it would not work because it was based on an orthodox quantum theory, the "no- cloning" theorem contained.

Criticism

In a seminar which is conducted at the University of Campinas, the Brazilian mathematics professor Waldyr Rodrigues with the concepts and methods Sarfattis. In the book edited by him document A Comment on Emergent Gravity Rodrigues pointed to mathematical inconsistencies, which in Sarfattis Emergent Gravity: are String Theory without String Theory, back and called it a " potpurri of nonsense Mathematics" and in later publications Sarfattis he found error.
