Jack Smith (racing driver)

Jack Smith ( born May 24, 1924 in Metropolis, Illinois; † 17 October 2001 in Spartanburg, South Carolina) was an American NASCAR driver.

Career

He ran his first NASCAR race in 1949 and is a member of the NMPA Hall of Fame in Darlington, South Carolina.

He made his debut in the first NASCAR race in 1949 at the Charlotte Speedway and ended it with 13th place in 1964, he finished his career. He was victorious in 21 races. He won NASCAR's Most Popular Driver Award in 1959.
