Jack Sock

Career

In his youth career Sock won the junior competition in singles at the U.S. Open in 2010. His professional career began in the same year, when he played his first ATP match due to a wildcard in the men's main draw of the U.S. Open. He lost the match against Marco Chiudinelli and was listed at the end of the season ranked 878 in the world rankings. In 2011 he also received a wildcard at the Miami Masters and again at the U.S. Open. In his now second Grand Slam appearance with a 3-1 victory over Marc Gicquel he managed his first career victory. In the second round he then defeated Andy Roddick in three sets, however, clear. While he was eliminated in the doubles competition in the first round, he succeeded in Mixed together with Melanie Oudin one of the biggest surprises of the tournament. Also equipped here with a wildcard defeated, among others, in the second round, the defending champion and hot favorite Liezel Huber and Bob Bryan 6-2, 3-6, [ 10-6 ]. This was followed by a smooth two- set victory over Barbora Zahlavova Strycova and Philipp Petzschner, and a battle -less advancement against Jelena Wesnina and Leander Paes. In the final, Oudin and Sock met on the set at position 8 Argentine Gisela Dulko and Eduardo Schwank, which they could just decide to 7:64, 4:6 and [ 10:8 ] for themselves. At the U.S. Open 2012 Sock won for the third time in a row a wildcard. By the third round in singles and doubles reaching the second round he succeeded in both contests his best result.
