Jack Straw

John Whitaker "Jack" Straw ( born August 3, 1946 in Buckhurst Hill, Essex ) is a British Labour Party politician. From June 2007 to May 2010 he was Lord Chancellor and Minister of Justice in the government of Gordon Brown.

Straw is since 1979 a deputy in the lower house for the constituency of Blackburn and was from 1997 to 2001 and Minister of the Interior from 2001 to 2006 Minister of Foreign Affairs in the government of Tony Blair. John Whitaker Straw was born in 1946 in Essex, where he lived in a council flat with his single mother. After graduating from a private school in Brentwood, he was able to attend thanks to a scholarship, he studied at the University of Leeds Jura.
