Jackie Baillie

Jacqueline Marie Baillie ( born January 15, 1964 in Hong Kong) is a Scottish politician and member of the Labour Party.

Life

Baillie was born in Hong Kong, the daughter of a Portuguese father and a Scottish mother. She attended St Anne 's School in Windermere and then graduated from the University of Glasgow, a master's degree from the industry. After that, she worked in both non-profit and public organizations for unemployment assistance and economic development. She lives with her ​​husband and daughter in Dumbarton.

Political career

In the first Scottish Parliament elections in 1999 Baillie first came to elections at the national level. She applied to the direct mandate of the constituency Dumbarton and could win before the SNP candidates by a wide margin. In the first cabinet, she held the position of Deputy Secretary of State for Communities and was promoted as a result of the cabinet change after the death of First Minister Donald Dewar Secretary of State for Social Justice.
