Jackie Moore (singer)
Jackie Moore ( born 1946 in Jacksonville, Florida) is an American soul and disco singer. She was known among other things, the hit Precious, Precious (1970) and the disco classic This Time Baby ( 1979).
Career
Jackie Moore is already recorded in the late 1960s for the label Shout and wall singles, although they were hardly commercially successful. Only a change to Atlantic brought the desired first hit: Precious, Precious reached in 1970, although only a place 30 in the American charts, but was certified gold. In the R & B Charts by Billboard Moore was thus in the top 15th From then on she gained the reputation of an " expressive R & B singer " (Taurus Press), the " liked by warm soul ballads " before all things. Other recordings published until 1973 at Atlantic, including Moore's first LP Sweet Charlie Babe with the same Southern Soul hit. It was followed by a collaboration with the label Kayvette which allowed a further R & B success with make me Feel Like a Woman (1975).
A year later, Moore was one of the countless soul stars who tried their luck with Disco Music: The Single Disco Body ( Shake It to the East, shake it to the West ) missed the charts. It was not until 1979, after a move to Columbia, Moore celebrated a big hit in the U.S. Disco Charts: This Time Baby placed at the top. Great Britain also took note of the single ( No. 49 ). This success Moore was not able, however, it remained the disco genre in the 1980s faithful. However, they often changed the record company.
