Jackson County (Kansas)

Jackson County is a county located in the state of Kansas in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Holton.

Geography

The County is located in northeast Kansas, in the north about 40 miles from Nebraska, in the east about 50 km of Missouri and has an area of ​​1704 square kilometers, of which six square kilometers of water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Brown County, Atchison County, Jefferson County, Shawnee County, Pottawatomie County and Nemaha County.

History

Jackson County was formed on 11 February 1859. It was named after Andrew Jackson, the seventh U.S. president.
