Jacksonville Beach is a city in Duval County in the U.S. state of Florida with 21,362 inhabitants ( 2010).

Geography

Jacksonville Beach is located between the Intracoastal Waterway and the Atlantic Ocean on the east coast of Florida, bordering the cities of Neptune Beach and Jacksonville.

Demographics

According to the 2010 census, the then 21,362 inhabitants distributed to 11,882 households. The population density was 1073.5 inh. / Km ². 90.9 % of the population were white, 3.9 % African American, 0.2% Native American and 1.7 % Asian Americans. 0.9% were members of other ethnic groups and 2.2% in different ethnic groups. 4.3% of the population were Hispanic or Latino.

In 2010, children under the age of 18 and 22.0 % of all households lived in 19.4 % of all households with persons at least 65 years. 49.7 % of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or a parent with offspring ). The average size of a household was 2.11 persons and the average family size is 2.74 people.

16.8% of the population were younger than 20 years, 33.5 % were 20-39 years old, 29.7% were 40-59 years old and 20.0 % were at least 60 years old. The median age was 40 years. 50.6 % of the population were male and 49.4 % female.

The average annual income was $ 61,445, while 9.1% of the population lived below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 94.42 % of the population spoke Spanish 3.66% and 1.92 % had a different mother tongue.

The town is crossed by U.S. Highway 90 and the Florida State Roads A1A and 202 ( Butler Blvd ). The nearest airports are Jacksonville Executive at Craig Airport (10 km north-west ) and the Jacksonville International Airport ( 40 km northwest ).

The crime rate in 2010 was 439 points ( U.S. average: 266 points ) within the average range. There were nine rapes, 39 robberies, 153 injuries, 128 burglaries, 949 thefts, 50 car thefts and three arson.
