Jacksonville ( Onslow and Courthouse ) is a city and county seat of Onslow County in the U.S. state of North Carolina. In 2010, Jacksonville had 70 145 inhabitants. The city is located in the coastal region in the so-called Inner Banks.

In Jacksonville is one of the largest bases of the U.S. Marine Corps, Camp Lejeune and the military MCAS New River Airport, which both the low average age of the population of 23 years and the most important civilian sector of the city, the retail explains. 16 km northwest of Jacksonville is the civilian Albert J. According to the census of 2000, there were 66 715 people in 17,175 households and 13,533 families. The population density is 579.1 inhabitants per km ². The average household size was 2.83 and the average family size was 3.18.

24.3% of the population were under 18 years old. 36.3 % from 18 to 24 years, 25.9 % are between 25 and 44, 8.8 % between 45 and 64, and 4.8 % were 65 years old or older. The average age was 22 years. For every 100 females there were 156.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 178.6 males.

The median income for a household was $ 32,544, and the median income for a family was $ 33,763. Males had a median income of $ 17,121 versus $ 19,931 for females. The per capita income was $ 14,237. 14.1 % of the population and 12.5 % of families are below the poverty line. 18 % of them are children and adolescents under age 18 and 17.7% are 65 years or older.

Jacksonville is located in the region of the Inner Banks on a bay of the Atlantic Ocean. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city covers an area 117 km ².
