Jacob August Franckenstein

Jacob August Franckenstein (* December 27, 1689 in Leipzig, † 10 of May 1733 at Leipzig ) was a German legal scholar and chief editor of the first two volumes of Zedler's Universal Lexicon Aller large full knowledge managed and arts.

Life

As the son of the lawyer and historian Christian Gottfried Franckenstein acquired Jacob August 1713 in Leipzig Master's degree in philosophy and four years later a doctorate in law. From 1721 to 1732 he was professor of natural and international law at the University of Leipzig.

In 1731 Johann Heinrich Zedler him from the leadership of the editorial board of the universal lexicon was offered. Under his leadership, the first two volumes were published, but after two years there has been a rift between the two and Franckenstein resigned from the editorial board of. He died two months later.

He was succeeded by Paul Daniel Longolius.
