Jacob Gilles

Gilles Jacob (* 1691 in Kollum, † September 10, 1765 in Ypenburg ) served as Grand Pensionary between the years 1746 and 1749, the highest government officials of the States of Holland and West Friesland.

Gilles Jacob was the first Haarlem pensioner who was also chosen for the Grand Pensionary of Holland and West Friesland. He held on 23 September 1746 to the June 18, 1749 this office. Gilles was a so-called state -minded politicians, that is, he was against the reinstatement of the House of Orange -Nassau as governor of the Republic of the United Netherlands.
