Jacob Murey

Jacob ( Yaacov ) Murey ( born August 2, 1941) is an Israeli chess player.

Jacob Murey was born in the Soviet Union and immigrated to Israel in 1976 legally. His tournament successes include his third or second place in Hastings in 1982 and Marseille in 1987 and his victory at the Open of Seville in 1987. During the same year he received from the World Chess Federation FIDE awarded the title of Grand Master. Murey was 1978 's second Viktor Kortschnois in his world championship match against Anatoly Karpov.

Jacob Murey participated with the Israeli team between 1980 and 1984 in three Chess Olympiads. He won in 2001, the European Championship and was founded in 2007 in Hockenheim third parties.

His current Elo rating is 2429 (as of May 2013).
