Jacob Tullin Thams

Jacob Tullin Thams ( born April 7, 1898 in Oslo, † July 27, 1954 ) was a Norwegian ski jumpers, cross-country skiers and sailors. With ski jumping gold in 1924 and silver sails 1936, he is one of only five athletes who could win a medal in both winter and summer Olympic Games, the others are Grafström Gillis, Edward Eagan, Christa Luding - Rothenburg and Clara Hughes.

Career

Thams was a professional offshore sailor and therefore had little opportunity to play sports; and therefore his achievements all the more impressive.

In the first Olympic Winter Games in Chamonix in 1924 he won the gold medal in ski jumping. Since the Nordic World Ski Championships were held this year at the Olympic Games, he was with his Olympic title at the same time world champion. In the Nordic World Ski Championships 1926 in Lahti, he became world champion again, the same year he received the Holmenkollen medal.

At the Olympic Winter Games in 1928 in St. Moritz, he would have his victory in 1924 can probably repeat.
