Despite his talent as a composer Vide has never been a member of the court orchestra. 1433 mention it the Hofrechnungen for the last time.

The work

  • From Vide following eight two -to four- part chansons have survived: Amans doubles
  • Espoir m'est venu conforter
  • Et c'est asses
  • Il m'est si grief
  • Las! ja'y perdu mon espincel
  • Puisque per n'ay plus de maystresse
  • Qui son cuer met a lady
  • Vit encore ce faux dangier.

The style of these songs is easy. Short phrases are joined together by overlapping cadences. Frequent dissonance, cross - rhythms and a considerable variability of the melody contribute to the special charm of this courtly art.
