Jacopo Caraglio

Caraglio, Gian Giacomo (Giovanni ) (* 1500 in Parma or Verona, † 1570 in Parma ) was an Italian artist, engraver, architect and medalist of Mannerism.

Caraglio is the successor of the " copyists " numerous works of Raphael significant engraver Marcantonio Raimondi, whose pupil he was likely. He stabbed series by Rosso Fiorentino ( " Hercules deeds ", " gods " ) and Perino del Vaga ( " Gods Love "). His engravings are less plastic than the Raimondi, and emphasize the decorative moving line. His style was further developed in the art of engraving of the School of Fontainebleau and in Mantua. From 1539 Caraglio was in Krakow medalist for the Polish king.
