Life

Jacopo Zucchi Jacopo del Zucca or, as his biographer Giovanni Baglione calls him, was a representative of Mannerism. He was a student of Giorgio Vasari, whom he accompanied to Rome in 1567. There he painted with him several churches and chapels of the Vatican.

Some frescoes in San Silvestro al Quirinale and the resulting 1585 altarpiece The Nativity of St. John the Baptist in the side chapel of San Giovanni Decollato church date from Zucchi. One of his most important works is the painting of the church of Santo Spirito in Sassia, where he knew the chorus with a complex Pentecost program. His most extensive work is the fresco cycle in the Palazzo Ruspoli in Rome, to which the painter anfertigte a detailed explanation in the book thickness. These notes were published posthumously in 1602.
