Jacqueline Cramer

Jacqueline Marian Cramer ( born April 10, 1951 in Amsterdam) is a Dutch environmental scientist and politician. For the Partij van de Arbeid it was 2007-2010 Civil and Environmental Minister of the Netherlands.

Life and work

After high school she studied from 1969 to 1970 philosophy, botany and biochemistry at the University of Arkansas, then biology at the University of Amsterdam, where she graduated in 1976.

Cramer was from 1976 to 1989 worked as a lecturer at the University of Amsterdam, where he led until 1982 the Department of " Biology and Society", then those for the science sociologically oriented " science dynamics." From 1985 to 1987 she was also the chairman of the Friends of the Earth to belong to Dutch environmental organization Milieudefensie. 1989 Cramer was offered as a guide list of Groen Links of items, which they, however, despite earlier support for the Alliance refused.

Until 1995 she worked at the Study Centre for Technology and Policy of the Netherlands Organization for Applied Scientific Research. From 1990 to 1996, she also held a professorship for environmental protection at the University of Amsterdam, and completed it at the Catholic University of Brabant, where she accompanied the Foundation Chair of Environmental Management to 1999. In 1999 she founded his own consultancy for Sustainability Management (Sustainable Entrepreneurship). From 1999 to 2005 she was also Professor of Environmental Management at the Erasmus University Rotterdam and then professor of sustainable enterprise at the Copernicus Institute of Utrecht University.

Cramer was also a member of the board of Shell Nederland and appointed by the Government member of the Economic and Social Council of the Netherlands. Furthermore, she was a member of the board of the Dutch World Wildlife Fund and the National Council for Transport, Public Works and Water and the Council for Environmental and Nature Research and Chairman of the platform " residents and sustainable construction ."

On 22 February 2007 Cramer was appointed in the fourth Balkenende Minister for Housing, Spatial Planning and the Environment.

On 23 February 2010 Cramer resigned her ministerial office.
