Jacquemart Island

Jacquemart Iceland is one of the islands that surround Campbell Iceland. It is usually referred to as the southern island of New Zealand. Indeed, this is but an unnamed island south of Iceland Jacquemart.

Before the other Campbell Islands were liberated in 2001 by introduced rats, the island was the last refuge of Campbell snipe ( Coenocorypha aucklandica perseverance ), one in 1997 discovered and described subspecies of Aucklandschnepfe 2009 ( Coenocorypha aucklandica ) within the genre of New Zealand snipe ( Coenocorypha ). After eradication of the rats began to colonize the rest of the archipelago again.

Sea birds that have been sighted on Jacquemart, include the sooty shearwater, the Antarctic Skua, as is the Cape Petrel.
