Jacques Bellange

Jacques Bell In (* around 1575 in the region Bassigny, † 1616 in Nancy) was court painter to the Duke of Lorraine. He is considered one of the greatest draftsman and engraver of the 17th century. His style is attributed to the expiring mannerism.

Little is known about the life of Bell Anges. During his lifetime, he was famous for his paintings that hung in the ducal palace in Nancy and in other official buildings. Get some dozen drawings and etchings, some at the Musée Lorrain in Nancy of which can be seen, while the paintings were almost completely lost.

A student Bell Anges was the Baroque painter Claude Deruet.
