Jacques Besson

Jacques Besson (* around 1540 in Grenoble, † 1576 in Orléans ) was a French mathematician and engineer.

Besson was as an engineer in the service of King Francis II

In 1568 he invented the threaded lathe.

He wrote with Theatrum instrumentorum et Machinarum ( 1569 ) the first book of modern times on machine technology.
